The end of the world as we know it (a dream)

I dreamed a dream in 2015. In this dream something major had happened back east. The United States was under attack from a foreign power. I could not see the details of that situation. But life was continuing in a somewhat normal manner. We were attending sacrament meeting in the church when the adults were asked to stay in the chapel as the youth and children went to Sunday school. In this meeting we were invited to begin preparations, if we chose, to go to the mountains at a camp location that was prepared for us. I felt the importance of the message and began building a case in my mind to convince my wife of the importance to go. I turned to my wife to speak and she grabbed my hand and looked me in the eye and said "I know, we will pack our things." I knew that many in the meeting were not happy about the suggestion and stated that they would not be going anywhere.

I was then moved in my dream to a point in the future. We were in vehicles and headed up Spanish Fork Canyon. We turned into Covered Bridge and were informed that we had been chosen to help manage the east portal of the Spanish Fork Canyon blockade. We were placed here because of our personal connection to the location. My parents live in Covered Bridge Canyon. As we crossed the bridge I saw that all the fields on both sides of the road were covered in tents, tent trailers and camper trailers. They did not look clean but they did look to be organized in an orderly fashion.

I was made to understand that in addition to the war, natural disasters had devastated the country. Utah had been rocked by a series of powerful earthquakes. Followed by fires caused by the quakes and then floods from broken dams. Due to these events the valleys were abandoned by most of the faithful because of the chaos. People were killing each other over basic necessities. Some neighborhoods banded together to stop the onslaught of people trying to survive. Due to this situation every way into and out of the state had been blockaded. Almost all of the entryways were in mountain passes or canyons. The church had naturally taken control of the situation as the civic leadership disintegrated into the chaos. A member of the Quorum of the 12 or a 70 had been put in charge of each blockade. These blockades were called stakes. People desperately wanted to get into the safety of the mountain blockade stakes. People from the valleys and people from outside of the state. I don't know about he rest of the state or all the blockade stakes, but ours was Spanish Fork Canyon. Leadership was stationed at the top of Spanish Fork Canyon near Scofield Reservoir where they could monitor the 2 main portals of entry, Price and Spanish Fork. There were others, but those were the main two. They were called the West and East Portals. A Bishop was stationed at each portal at all times. As people were interviewed to come into the mountains the Bishop was the common judge of Israel and would allow some and forbid others. A Bishop was also required to accompany any parties leaving the safety of the blockades and going into the valley.

Men and women were asked to man the portals to help keep order in the blockade stakes. There were men blockading and guarding every mountain pass and road. We were frequently sent to the valley for specific purposes. Sometimes to find people and sometimes to gather specific supplies. For the most part our parties were left alone. People would frequently approach us and ask to join. The Bishop made the call. There were times when people were refused and they begged that their children be taken to safety. This was also a brutal choice for the Bishop. There was obvious signs of fighting, but there were still good people in the valley making a fight of it. We communicated with them and passed them instructions.

In camp there was a surreal feeling. Tents, trailers and homes were messy and dirty, but the feeling of love was present. We would work hard during the day, doing the hard labor that had to be done, but at night we would gather and eat, study the scriptures and sing. It was a moment never to be forgotten.

Eventually the valley pretty much cleansed itself of wickedness. We helped those faithful strongholds defeat any major threats, whether by force or by kindness, and we were able to regain control of the valley.

I remember sitting in Pier 49 pizza drinking tea and talking with the men inside. Commenting on how strange it would be once the government (which still existed after the war) tried to take control of us again. We were governing so successfully that crime was almost non existent.

At this point in my dream, it is the only time someone directly speaks to the current me and not the me in my dream. I am talked to by a man, I considered him an angel, though not dressed like you would imagine an angel to be. But he let me know certain things. I told him I wished I had become a doctor and he let me know that almost all institutions of higher learning were an abomination. They had strayed from their righteous missions to teach and enlighten souls, to brain washing and chaining souls. He let me know that I had the gift of healing, whether I was a doctor or not and that there were many ways to learn to heal people. He counseled me to stock seeds and especially opium seeds to help take away pain, and that I should learn to use it. He had a few other words of wisdom for me that I won't share at this time.

With that my dream closed. I am not purporting to have seen the future, but I feel it was a vision for me to help me understand some things. My family and I are just coming out of a global pandemic. During this pandemic we had an earthquake and an emergency with our drinking water where we were told to boil all water. It made me realize how quickly things could change. My dream did not seem so silly anymore, so I decided to finally write it down.
